“So, why do you have a cupcake sitting on your vanity?” ......“Um, it's actually my did you not wash your hands?.”

After trying everything, Lisa Daye, owner of Bubble Tree Soapery in Ferriday, began creating her own soaps, body butter bars and lip balms.

Daye took it upon herself to fix a problem that has been bothering her most of her life. She suffers from Eczema and could not find a lotion or product to keep her skin hydrated. After trying various products she got fed up and began playing with different ingredients.

Daye began with a simple bar, playing with different combinations until she got it right.

Over the past three years Daye has been making her own products.  She started selling them out of her house in March of 2012, and as the holiday season approaches, she has received orders from even Santa looking for stocking stuffers.  Daye was also recently featured in Newsweek magazine.

Since she began using her handcrafted soaps, she says her skin stays hydrated.

Her products are made in small batches with high quality ingredients. Most of the commercial soaps sitting on the shelves are made with detergents; the same detergents used to wash clothes and clean cars. Those detergents actually strip the oils from your skin and make them feel dry and itchy.  Daye, instead, uses goat’s milk in her soaps, along with avocado oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and amino acids in her lotions, and coconut oil, beeswax, and grape seed oil in her lip balms.

The success of her soaps inspired Daye to create a body butter bars, which is a solid body butter that melts with the temperature of your skin.

Not only are her soaps truly hydrating, they are cute too.

“If you have to use soap it might as well be pretty,” Daye said.

Her soaps come in forms of cupcakes, hot cocoa, baseballs, tractors... and the creations are endless.

Daye says she has many product options available on her website and is happy to work with customers for custom orders.

Bubble Tree Soapery is a great example of taking a problem, coming up with a creative solution, and leaving the rest in the suds.
