New Music By Jake Owen, Jordan Rager, Dan + Shay and Green River Ordinance This Week on 95 Country!

“American Country Love Song” is the first single from Jake Owen’s upcoming album.  Jake Owen has kept the details about his next album fairly quiet, but he has told multiple media outlets that he wants to get away from the bro-country, beach bum image he has earned.

He recently told The Boot that he wants his new album to reflect, “‘Everything in my life right now — I’m 33, I’m married, I have a kid, my dad beat cancer...I’ve gone through a lot of real-life situations over the last couple of years. I wanna get back to things that are real to me, and real-life scenarios.”

Jake's new album should be out in the next couple of months.

From a “Voice” contestant, to opening act, to a major record deal.  Newcomer Jordan Rager is on the move.  Back in the Spring of 2012, Jordan was a contestant on Season 2 of the hit NBC show “The Voice.”  He performed the Zac Brown Band song “Chicken Fried” and landed on Team Blake, but Jordan didn’t make it past the elimination rounds.

Jordan didn’t get discouraged and just a few months later, he got a call from heavyweight Nashville producer Jeremy Stover.  Jeremy was looking for an opening act for Justin Moore’s Off The Beaten Path Tour, and they thought Jordan would be the perfect fit.  Jordan wisely jumped at the chance, and got to tour and perform for several months with veterans like Randy Houser and Justin Moore.

Jordan tried to learn everything he could about touring and performing from the industry veterans, and soon, Broken Bow Records came calling with a record deal.  “Southern Boy” is the first single from Jordan’s upcoming album, and his labelmate Jason Aldean was nice enough to help out a little on the background vocals too.

It’s been a little over two years since Dan + Shay released their debut album Where It All Began.  Since then, the duo has earned their first #1 single, “Nothing Like You” (which also went Platinum for selling over one million copies), and several ACM and CMA award nominations.  They’ve also been supporting acts on a handful of nationwide tours, performing alongside Blake Shelton, Neal McCoy, The Band Perry, Cam, Canaan Smith and Kelsea Ballerini.  So, they’ve had a couple of busy years, and now the duo says they’re ready to release their second album.

In a record label press release, Dan Smeyrs says their new single, ""From the Ground Up" is a song that started with a conversation about our grandparents and the love that they shared for the 65-plus years that they were married...It tells the story of the life that they built through their power and dedication to each other, and the perseverance to endure whatever would come their way.”

Dan + Shay's sophomore album should be released later this Spring.

I’m still amazed that we were able to land one of the hottest Americana groups in the country for Riverstock 2016.  Green River Ordinance (GRO for short) will be part of the lineup on May 14th on the Natchez Bluff.

GRO might be from Fort Worth, Texas, but they sound (and look) like they came straight out of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia.  “Simple Life” is one of many excellent songs on GRO’s most-recent album Fifteen.
