Gun wielding Adams County man arrested at trailer fire

April 13, 2018 -

On Wednesday, April 11th, at approximately 8:15 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a fire at a residence in back of 4 N. Swan Ct. in Adams County.
When deputies arrived, the trailer home was fully engulfed and the resident, 33 year old Jerry Brown, Jr., was walking around the house waving a handgun.

Brown was ordered several times to drop the weapon, but refused saying responding deputies would have to “kill him before he put it down.” Brown made several references to “going to be with his dead brother;” but knew he could not be with his brother if he killed himself.

Deputies finally got close enough to Brown to use a stun gun and he was subdued and arrested. The gun was retrieved and found to have been empty with no magazine or bullets.

Sheriff Patten said “deputies chose to save a life rather than taking one and was able to keep themselves and everyone else safe in the process.”

After Brown was escorted from the scene, Natchez Fire Department was able to put out the blaze.

Brown was booked into the Adams County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. No bond pending arraignment.
