Woman charged with second degree murder in Natchez shooting

NATCHEZ, Miss. — A woman has been charged with second degree murder in a deadly Natchez shooting.

Police say around 5:30 Sunday morning, a woman was found on the sidewalk near MLK Street and St. Catherine Street.

She now been identified as 27-year-old Luquitia Renee Owens.

Officers secured the scene outside of the nightclub Rockefeller's. Owens was taken to Merit Health and was pronounced dead.

Police say she was fighting with two other women including 24-year old Monique Noble who used a gun and struck the victim twice. The gun fired, shooting the victim. Noble is being charged with second degree murder. Police also discovered 28-year old Caleb Walton Jr. was in possession of a firearm and is a convicted felon. However, they say there is no indication he is connected to the death of the victim.
