NATCHEZ, Miss. – The Board of Aldermen allocated $25,000 Tuesday to help a church group enhance a lakefront park by the Natchez-Adams County Airport for public use.

The funds are coming from money earmarked for community development that Magnolia Bluffs Casino gives Natchez for leasing city-owned land along the Mississippi River.

The Antioch Missionary Baptist Association has plans for its “Unity Park” to include pavilions, playgrounds, a gazebo, a lakeside beach and fishing pier. It’s on public land leased from the Adams County Board of Supervisors and Airport Commission.
AMB Association representatives say the park will be available to the public on a regulated basis.

The land, which already has some park accommodations for various events, is to be further enhanced by the AMB Association with funds it’s getting from the city and other sources. The $25,000 allocated Tuesday by the Board of Aldermen is being funneled through the Natchez-Adams County Recreation Commission for Unity Park. | © 2014 | All Rights Reserved
