from The Concordia Sentinel
February 8, 2018 -

A Vidalia man was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a firearm following a shooting incident at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday night (Feb. 1) on Ralph Road in Vidalia.

22-year-old Nicholas R. Brown of Ralph Road, turned himself into the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office on Monday.

Brown was charged with shooting into a car with two passengers inside.

The incident happened near Country Estates mobile home park.

One of the victims was flown by helicopter to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after a bullet allegedly tore through his left shoulder and lodged behind his man’s sternum.

Concordia Parish Sheriff Investigator Phillip Smith said when sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call they did not find anyone at the premises. Brown said as the suspect fled on foot, the injured man drove himself to Vidalia, where he switched seats with the passenger, who was unharmed.

Smith said the passenger then drove the wounded man to Merit Health Natchez, where the victim was flown to UMMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Smith said deputies identified the alleged shooter on Friday.
