NaATCHEZ, Miss. —  On Thursday, February 8, 2018 at approximately 12:20 am, ACSO received an emergency call in reference to an Armed Robbery at 48 Proby Rd. Deputies arrived in the area and observed a vehicle trying to leave Proby Rd. Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver, 40 year old Marlon Dean, who had a handgun between the driver’s seat and the center console. Dean was detained while deputies continued to the original call location.

Deputies were then advised by Dispatch that the victim, 35 year old Bilal Assabor, was en route to Merit Health for treatment and that the intruder was outside in the yard possibly deceased.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they observed one male lying on the ground wearing a mask with what appeared to be a small caliber rifle underneath him. EMT’s arrived and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as 52 year old Richard Washington. In statements gathered by investigators, it appears the offender attempted to rob the residence and a fight ensued with the victim being shot once in the hand. The victim returned fire fatally wounding the offender.

Investigators determined they had enough evidence to charge Dean with Attempted Armed Robbery. Dean is being held at the Adams County Jail on a $150,000 bond. Investigators and Narcotics officers recovered drugs from the scene indicating that this may be drug related and additional arrests are pending further investigation | © 2014 | All Rights Reserved
