Thornton Pleads Guilty to Murders in Courtroom Surprise
from The Concordia Sentinel
February 16, 2017 -

(Concordia Sentinel) — In a surprise move, Curt Thornton entered guilty pleas to first-degree murder shortly after noon today in the slayings of his wife and a friend last year.

Trial proceedings began Monday.

Thornton was in a “jealous rage” when he executed his estranged wife, Angela Thornton, during the early morning hours of April 6, 2016, in Vidalia, District Attorney Brad Burget said in his opening statement Tuesday.

Burget said Thornton also killed a friend of his and his estranged wife’s – John Kenna Tibbs – who was in the home on 1649 Azalea Street the couple once shared when Thornton broke in through the backdoor.

The Concordia Sentinel has an excellent in-depth article on the case.  Check out all the details on their web site.
