(Concordia Sentinel) — The Louisiana National Guard’s 1086th Transportation Company will be deploying to Kuwait on May 13 for a year in support of Operation Spartan Shield.

“I’m excited about it,” said John Dale Loomis of Vidalia, who deployed to Afghanistan in 2011-12. “We’ll be doing a lot of mobility patrols.”

Other Vidalians deploying are Trey Rogillio, Caleb Havard and James Trujillo.

According to Staff Sgt. David Kirtland, the 1086th will have a deployment ceremony on May 13 at 4 p.m. at Pineville High School in Pineville before heading to Fort Hood, Texas for mobilization training.

“As soon as they have finished training they will head to Kuwait,” Kirtland said.

The 1086th deployed to Kuwait in 2003.

The 1086th also assisted with Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Isaac, as well as recent floods in north and south Louisiana and helped supply St. Joseph with water during their water crisis.
