NATCHEZ, Miss — On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 8:17 pm, deputies were dispatched to 84 W. Wilderness Rd. in reference to a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a male gunshot victim identified as 30 year old Raymond Fleming. Raymond’s wounds appeared to deputies to be life threatening so deputies asked the responding ambulance service (AMR) for an ETA. Deputies were told the ambulance was en route, but were unable to provide an ETA.

Due to the seriousness of Raymond’s wounds, deputies made the decision to transport him to Merit Health Natchez by Sheriff’s Office unit. A relative of the Raymond’s rode with them. Upon arrival at Merit Heath, Raymond was air lifted to Jackson where he remains in ICU.
Upon investigators arrival at the crime scene, it was determined through eye witness accounts that Raymond was shot by his brother, Devron Green, who is confined to a wheelchair. Devron was arrested for Attempted Murder and transported to the Adams
County Jail.

Raymond’s family has expressed their gratitude to the responding deputies for their decision to transport him immediately for medical care and believe he is alive because of it.
Sheriff Patten said that while this is not what we usually do, he stands behind his deputies’ decision in this instance. | © 2014 | All Rights Reserved
