(LRN) — Quarterback Brandon Harris is looking for a new school. The one-time starting QB for the Tigers says he's transferring and head coach Ed Orgeron will allow Harris to transfer to any school he chooses. Tiger Rag Associate Editor James Moran says this is not a surprise, since Danny Etling is the likely starting signal caller in 2017.
"New coordinator or not it's really hard to vision an avenue that he would unseat Danny Etling next year," Moran said.
New offensive coordinator Matt Canada said during an interview on ESPN U on February 1st that the starting QB position is "wide-open spot."
Harris started the first two games of the 2016 season, but was benched during the game against Jacksonville State. He appeared in just four games on the season and threw for only 139 yards after starting all 12 games in his sophomore campaign.
Harris' departure leaves three other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster for spring football. Soon to be redshirt sophomore Justin McMillan, Lindsey Scott, who just redshirted his freshman season and incoming freshman Lowell Narcisse.
Four-star prospect Myles Brennan will join the team in the summer.
