Our Feel Good Story Of The Day
Earlier this week, the Krispy Kreme donut company made news when they shut down a the side hustle of a 21-year old college student named Jayson Gonzalez. He was making 500 mile round trip drives every weekend from his school in Minnesota to his hometown in Iowa, buying one hundred dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, and selling them for a tidy profit back at his school. Jayson says he was selling the $10 boxes of donuts for $17-20, in an area that had been without a Krispy Kreme donut store for over ten years. Jayson started the side hustle with a goal of graduating from school debt-free.
Krispy Kreme got word of Jayson’s hustle, and asked him to stop. Krispy Kreme donuts don’t keep very long, and the company didn’t want him selling day-old donuts for a premium price.

Krispy Kreme’s fans were also quick to call out the company.

However, the Krispy Kreme executive board’s collective heart must have grown three sizes in the past 24 hours, because Krispy Kreme just gave Jayson the green light to keep selling their donuts.
we are happy to work with Jayson as an independent operator to ensure consistent delivery of our high-quality doughnuts to our fans in Minnesota.
Krispy Kreme also gave him certificates for 500 boxes of free donuts to help Jayson’s entrepreneurial endeavor.
