Atmos Energy is urging customers who cannot pay their gas bill to make arrangements now so they will not lose service later.
Due to the pandemic, the Mississippi Public Service Commission imposed a statewide moratorium on utility disconnections for non-payments.
Atmos said they understand customers who lost their jobs may not be up-to-date on their payments.
The company said they want to work with those who may be struggling to keep up with their bills so they don’t get behind.
“We can put you on a payment plan we can talk about delayed payments,” Robert Lesley, Atmos director of Mississippi public affairs said. “We can assess your situation and see if there are any programs that might benefit you. The main thing is to talk to us now.”
The Public Service Commission could extend the rule prohibiting utility cutoffs.
