The day after Natchez mayor Dan Gibson put out a statement regarding an unauthorized transfer of money from a city bank account, the former city clerk is claiming responsibility. Servia Fortenberry says her last day was Monday, payroll was Friday, and that the money in question represents her salary, vacation, and other compensation. The total of all of those comes out to a little better than $11,000. Fortenberry is defending the transaction, saying it was done in conjunction with running payroll, which was one of her duties.
