A segment of U.S. 61 in Adams County is among the highway improvement projects underway by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
About 11 miles of new overlay is being placed on U.S. 61 stretching from Doloroso in Wilkinson County to Kingston in Adams County. Crews are currently working on mainline asphalt. Work is expected to wrap up this summer
This $5.7 million project was awarded to W.E. Blain & Sons, Inc., of Mount Olive. It was among several projects in southwest Mississippi announced Thursday by MDOT.
“All of these projects are geared towards one main goal: improving driver safety. Safety remains MDOT’s top priority,” said Southern Transportation Commissioner Tom King.
