Mississippi is providing $1.8 million for improvements at an industrial site. The money will be used to complete a levee and to provide drainage at the Belwood site near Natchez. A company called Velocys has an option to buy the site for its Bayou Fuels facility. The company says it will use woody biomass to make sustainable fuel for aviation. The facility is expected to create 100 new jobs. The grant is part of Mississippi Development Authority’s select sites program that provides money to prepare industrial sites for prospective companies.
