JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Two organizations have announced donations to the Jackson Planetarium.
The gifts announced this week will help with the planetarium’s ongoing renovation project, WLBT-TV reported. The Friends of the Planetarium received $1 million from the Community Foundation of Mississippi. The Junior League also pledged $500,000 to the planetarium group.
The planetarium opened in 1979. Renovation work includes a total redesign, a new atrium and exhibits that highlight Mississippi’s space science history.
