Long awaited Morgantown Road funding secured in Federal Appropriations bill
(March 17, 2022 – Natchez, MS) Officials from the Adams County Board of Supervisors, City of Natchez Mayor, and Board of Alderman announce today that the long-awaited assistance for Morgantown Road has been included in the federal spending bill recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden. Through the efforts of Mississippi’s Congressional delegation and years of persistent work by state and local leaders, $2.4 Million will be available for the Morgantown Road Safety Improvement Project for resurfacing, drainage improvements and striping.
Multiple churches, schools, apartment buildings, and homes are located along this stretch of road, and these improvements will benefit the citizens and children that travel this road daily. Adams County and the City of Natchez will work now with the Mississippi Department of Transportation to be able to draw down the funds and begin work as soon as possible.

“This has been a priority for Adams County for years and we are pleased that a solution is finally within sight,” said Wes Middleton, President, Adams County Board of Supervisors. “We thank Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith for sponsoring this project in the funding bill and for working with Senator Wicker and Congressman Guest to get this project done. This would not be possible without our partnership with the City of Natchez and Natchez, Inc.”
“The safety of our citizens that travel this road on a daily basis has been our top priority,” said Dan Gibson, Mayor, City of Natchez. “Years of leadership from our federal delegation and state leaders have made this great project possible.
