
Natchez, Mississippi – The City of Natchez is mourning the passing of Alderman Ward 6 and Mayor Pro Tem, the Honorable Dan G. Dillard. Mayor Dan Gibson announced the news of Alderman Dillard’s passing in a press release on Wednesday, March 29th 2023, expressing the community’s sadness at the loss of a dedicated public servant.
The full statement from Mayor Dan Gibson reads as follows:
“It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our dear friend, Alderman Ward 6 and Mayor Pro Tem, the Honorable Dan G. Dillard. Alderman Dillard served the citizens of Natchez for over 14 years and worked every day to make Natchez a better place. He will be deeply missed by all. We ask everyone to keep his family, friends, and our city in your thoughts and prayers. Until further notice, I ask that all flags in the City of Natchez be lowered to half-staff in honor of our beloved friend, leader and colleague.”
Alderman Dillard was known for his tireless work and commitment to the city, and his passing has left a void in the community. In honor of his service, Mayor Gibson has requested that all flags in the City of Natchez be lowered to half-mast until further notice.
Alderman Dillard’s passing is a reminder of the important work that public servants do to make their communities better places to live. The City of Natchez will honor his legacy and continue to work towards the betterment of the community.





According to the Natchez Democrat, Mayor Dan Gibson was one of the last ones to see him alive talking city business with the Fire Chief and lack of funds from the county for fire service. Dillard had also been inquiring about the agreement between the City/County and School Boards at the previous meeting and their participation in our Workforce Development with Natchez, Inc. in December 21, 2021, which was never approved by the state and now is expired.
