One of the suspects, Tayshon Holmes, previously bunted from a murder charge, is reportedly part of the BMG gang in Natchez. The sheriff emphasized the suspects’ history of violence and disregard for life, recounting a harrowing incident where they shot a woman in the neck during a carjacking at Stanton Baptist Church. Despite being in critical but stable condition, the victim’s resilience was praised by Sheriff Patten.
The urgency of the situation was underscored by the sheriff’s description of the suspects’ escape from a juvenile facility in Jackson, where they assaulted guards and stole a vehicle. This level of aggression has prompted the sheriff’s office to enlist the aid of state partners like the U.S. Marshals, Capitol Police, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, as well as regional forces including Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Patten also issued a stern warning against aiding the fugitives, stating that anyone found assisting them would face severe legal consequences. He encouraged the community to report any sightings or information to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-442-5001, highlighting the importance of public vigilance in ensuring community safety.
The suspects are believed to be using a 2015 Ford Fusion, gold and bronze in color, with a distinctive shot-out driver’s side window. The tag number is ADC 8276. Sheriff Patten urged the public to check on their neighbors and to report any suspicious activities or sightings of the vehicle.
As part of the community-wide effort, local schools have been briefed, and security measures have been reinforced. Sheriff Patten reassured parents about the presence of officers and security systems in schools, emphasizing that the safety of students is a top priority.
