NATCHEZ, Miss. – Adams County residents wanting to sign up for the community’s new emergency-alert calling system can phone 601 308-8999.
Hyper-Reach is replacing CodeRED, which has been serving the county for several years to warn subscribers about severe weather and provide other public notifications.
As recommended by Adams County Emergency Management Director Brad Bradford, supervisors in May opted for Hyper-Reach at an annual cost of $6,900 – $5,600 less than what CodeRED billed the county.
Hyper-Reach provides the same automated service as CodeRED to notify subscribers by telephone of community alerts or emergency situations, such as severe weather, mass evacuations, criminal fugitives, road closures and boil-water notices.
About 12,000 Adams County subscribers use CodeRED, which ends its service here July 31, according to Bradford. He said those users won’t be automatically transferred to Hyper-Reach. They must sign up by phoning the new service (see telephone number above) and follow its automated instructions to register. There is no charge for the individual subscriber.
