NATCHEZ, Miss. – Mayor Dan Gibson is encouraging people to gather at the Natchez bluff park Friday afternoon to help show off what the city has for TV viewers watching WJTV’s telecast of its monthly series spotlighting Mississippi towns.
The Jackson television station’s Your Hometown will feature Natchez in segments during WJTV’s live newscast 4 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Hosts Walt Grayson and Ken South will be interviewing Natchez leaders and citizens as they showcase the city’s various attributes and attractions. South, who grew up in Natchez, is WJTV’s chief meteorologist. Grayson, a frequent Natchez visitor, is one of Channel 12’s news anchors and reporters.
Gibson said he wants a good crowd of Natchez residents to assemble at the Bluff Bandstand on Broadway Street as Grayson, South and their TV crew do telecasts starting around 4 p.m. Friday. They will move their set to the recently renovated Broadway Street train depot for WJTV’s 6 p.m. newscast.
