The City of Natchez is gearing up for a month of celebration, kicking off with the 2024 Inaugural Celebration on Monday, July 1. This event, marking the beginning of the new term for all city officials, including the Mayor, Board of Aldermen, and Municipal Judge, will be held at the Natchez Convention Center at 12 noon. All are invited to join in celebrating the achievements of the past four years and to look ahead to the future goals and aspirations under the banner of the Natchez Renewal.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the festivities continue with the Inaugural Gala featuring renowned Natchez Blues Legend, YZ Ealey. This free event will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Rolling River Reloaded, located at 406 Main Street. Attendees can enjoy an evening of great music, delicious food, and refreshing beverages, celebrating the new city officials in a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
On July 4, just like last year the city will host an old-fashioned summer party at The Bandstand on the Historic Bluff, leading up to the much-anticipated Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza. This event draws thousands of spectators to the beautiful riverfront to witness the Miss-Lou’s spectacular fireworks display.
Live music will set the festive tone for the evening, starting with Cha Cha Boo from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, followed by Lincoln Outfit from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and culminating with Mira.Got.Soul from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The fireworks display will follow, illuminating the sky in a grand finale. Wardo’s will be setting up a special food tent, Coca Cola will provide free cold drinks, and Natchez Parks and Recreation will organize fun activities for the kids. Everyone is encouraged to bring their coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs to fully enjoy the festivities.
A special highlight of the Fourth of July Celebration will be the recognition of the Special Olympics Athletes of the Miss-Lou. These remarkable athletes have recently returned from the competition in Biloxi with gold, silver, and bronze medals. The community will come together to celebrate their incredible achievements and show support for their dedication and hard work.
