NATCHEZ, Miss. – City aldermen have hired the Gillon Christian Mosby accounting firm to do the annual audits of Natchez finances. The CPA group is replacing the Silas Simmons firm, which city officials have complained has been consistently late in finishing the annual audits required by law.
With the Board of Aldermen agreeing Tuesday to hire GCM, City Clerk Megan McKenzie said the firm will be paid up to $65,000 a year. She noted this is about $6,000 less than what the other firm was paid.
The GCM firm was organized earlier this year when former Silas Simmons partner Sim Mosby joined what was previously The Gillon Group headed by Billy Gillon.
