Meteorologists from the National Weather Service (NWS) are actively surveying damage in northern Tangipahoa Parish, Pike County, and Walthall County following severe storms that occurred on March 15.
Preliminary assessments have confirmed at least two tornadoes impacted the region. One of these tornadoes, classified as an EF-4, first touched down east of Kentwood, Louisiana, at approximately 12:15 p.m. The destructive storm then moved northeastward into Pike and Walthall counties in Mississippi. The precise path length, width, and extent of damage caused by this powerful tornado are currently being evaluated by survey teams.
Meteorologists will also examine storm damage reports from western St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, beginning Monday. Upon completion of these detailed surveys, the NWS will publish a comprehensive Public Information Statement summarizing their findings.
