England Airpark and Alexandria International Airport (AEX) are set to launch their new “Fly Local, AEXplore Global” campaign tomorrow, March 19th. The initiative aims to revitalize and expand central Louisiana’s air travel connectivity, addressing significant industry challenges including the recent departure of United Airlines.
“We are optimistic about the future of AEX, but we need the community’s support to build on the services and amenities that we provide to travelers,” emphasized Ralph Hennessy, Executive Director of England Airpark. “We need to show airlines that central Louisiana is proud of its regional airport. When you choose to Fly Local, AEXplore Global, you’re directly supporting our ability to secure more airlines, flight options, and better connectivity.”
The campaign stems from England Airpark’s strategic plan, unveiled in January 2024, highlighting the necessity of a “fly local” effort. The campaign promotes numerous benefits of choosing AEX over larger, distant airports, emphasizing savings in both time and costs related to travel.
A significant feature of the campaign is a microsite equipped with a cost calculator. Travelers can now evaluate hidden travel expenses like fuel and parking fees, which are often overlooked when considering distant airport options.
