On March 26, 2025, the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) assisted the Jonesville Police Department (JPD) in responding to a shooting incident reported in the area of Tal Gibson Street. At approximately 3:01 p.m., emergency dispatch received multiple calls about yelling and gunfire.
Responding officers located an injured male near 9th and 10th Streets, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel from Sandy Lake Fire and Rescue treated the victim at the scene before airlifting him to Rapides Regional Medical Center for advanced medical care.
Witnesses helped law enforcement identify a suspect, prompting an immediate search of the area. As a precautionary measure, local schools were placed on lockdown by Superintendent Johnnie Adams until the suspect was apprehended, although the incident did not involve school property or students. The lockdown lasted less than one hour.
