The Concordia Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness announces that, effective immediately, the No Wake
Zone Order has been lifted for all lakes within Concordia Parish. This includes:
- Black River Lake
- Lake St. John
- Horseshoe Lake
- Lake Concordia
Following recent assessments, water levels have now fallen to safe levels, and there is no longer a threat to
public safety, private property, or critical infrastructure. We thank residents and visitors for their
cooperation during the enforcement of the no wake order.
While the lakes are now fully open for recreational use, we strongly urge all boaters and lake visitors to
continue practicing safe and responsible boating behavior. Please observe the following safety guidelines:
- Wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets at all times while on the water.
- Maintain a safe speed and remain aware of your surroundings, including other vessels, swimmers,
and docks. - Check your vessel’s safety equipment before departure, including navigation lights, fire extinguishers,
and emergency signaling devices. - Do not operate a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Boating under the influence is illegal
and endangers everyone on the water. - Be mindful of weather conditions and seek shelter if storms approach.
- Respect all wildlife and natural habitats, and help keep our lakes clean by disposing of trash properly.
The lakes of Concordia Parish are a cherished natural resource and a hub for recreation and relaxation. Let’s all
do our part to ensure they remain safe and enjoyable for everyone
