Roux 61 Seafood & Grill shuttered its Bluebonnet Boulevard restaurant on Saturday, May 31, marking the end of a decade-long run at that spot, owner Jason Lees confirmed Sunday. Although Lees stated that business had been steady, he was presented with “a great opportunity to sell the real estate,” prompting the decision to close.
Because of a non-disclosure agreement, Lees declined to reveal the identity of the buyer or specific sale terms, but he did confirm that the new venture slated for the property will not be a restaurant. “We appreciate the support Baton Rouge has shown us since we opened in 2015,” Lees said.
Despite the closure on Bluebonnet Boulevard, Lees reassured patrons that he is actively searching for a new Baton Rouge location. “We’re committed to returning to the community and hope to announce a new site soon,” he added.
Roux 61’s original location in Natchez, Mississippi, will continue operating as usual. Since opening their first restaurant in Baton Rouge in 2015, the Baton Rouge venue has been known for its Gulf-inspired seafood dishes and welcoming atmosphere. With an eye toward staying in Baton Rouge, Lees plans to keep loyal diners informed as new details about the next location emerge.
