Concordia Parish Schools reported its fourth consecutive year of growth in performance scores. The district earned a 73.6 rating, which is a C grade, up from 72 in 2024. Officials also noted that no schools in the parish received an F grade this year.
Louisiana’s statewide performance score also increased for the fourth straight year. The state score reached 80.9, a five‑point increase since 2021. According to State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley, a focus on strong classroom instruction has contributed to the improvement. State data shows that 52 percent of Louisiana public schools received an A or B grade. However, fewer top grades may be awarded next year as the state transitions to a new accountability system.
The Climate Prediction Center, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, released its long‑range forecast for December through February. The southern half of the United States, including the Miss-Lou region and up through the Mid‑Atlantic, is expected to experience warmer‑than‑average temperatures. The Southwest and Florida have the highest likelihood of unseasonably warm conditions. The winter precipitation outlook also favors drier‑than‑normal weather for the region.
As an immigration crackdown in New Orleans approaches, immigration attorney David Rosa is reminding the public of their rights when interacting with border patrol agents. Rosa says all individuals, regardless of citizenship status, have the right to remain silent. He raised concerns about warrantless arrests and questioned how individuals are being stopped. While federal and state leaders say the focus will be on dangerous criminals in the country illegally, Rosa expressed skepticism about how enforcement actions will be carried out.
