Adams County officials are urging residents who experienced damage to the electrical weather head on their homes during the recent ice storm to report it to Adams County Emergency Management, even if the repairs have already been completed. Residents may be asked to provide photos of the damage, along with their name and address, to help the county accurately assess overall storm impact.
Qualifying for Louisiana’s closed primaries is underway at the Louisiana State Archives in Baton Rouge. The first candidate to qualify for the U.S. Senate race is Republican John Fleming. Bill Cassidy and Julia Letlow are also expected to qualify later this week. Democrat Jamie Davis has qualified and noted that he will be traveling extensively across the state to build name recognition.
During the 2026 Mississippi legislative session, women’s economic security and civic participation remain key priorities for several advocacy groups. The Black Women’s Roundtable Mississippi, the Mississippi BWR, and the Mississippi Women’s Economic Security Initiative Coalition gathered at the Mississippi State Capitol for an advocacy day. The groups presented the Mississippi Women’s Economic Security Initiative, which focuses on maternal health, paid family leave, economic justice, and supplemental access.
The University of Louisiana Monroe has become the first university in the state to install a drone detection system. The school partnered with Skysafe, a global drone detection company, to address concerns over unauthorized drones flying over campus. The system can identify a drone, its path, and the operator’s location. A FEMA grant funded the equipment.
