Natchez residents will have the opportunity to engage with a nationally recognized voice in law, history, and storytelling when Emmy Award-winning author and scholar Prof. Gloria Browne-Marshall visits the city for a special public event in February.
BlackNatchez.org will host “In Conversation” with Browne-Marshall on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1720 Gallery, 227 N. MLK Street. The event will be moderated by Joseph A.C. Smith, founder of BlackNatchez.org, and is free and open to the public.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour featuring complimentary appetizers, offering guests an opportunity to connect before the formal program begins. At 7 p.m., Browne-Marshall and Smith will take the stage for a live conversation expected to explore themes of justice, history, culture, and the power of storytelling in shaping public understanding.
Following the conversation, attendees are invited to remain for an 8 p.m. screening of Before 1619: She Took Justice, further expanding on themes likely to be discussed during the program.
Organizers encourage attendees to reserve their seats in advance by visiting here. The event is presented by BlackNatchez.org and powered in partnership with the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration.
