Adams County residents are being urged to follow a county-wide burn ban now in effect through March 16.
Adams County Emergency Management announced that, in coordination with the Board of Supervisors, a burn ban has been requested through the Mississippi Forestry Commission beginning March 2. The decision comes in response to current weather conditions and a recent increase in fires across the county.
Officials stress that adhering to the burn ban is critical to protecting lives and property. Anyone found violating the ban could face fines of up to $500, which will be enforced by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
