The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam targeting families of individuals incarcerated at the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility.
According to officials, scammers are posing as law enforcement officers and contacting family members with a false claim that their loved one can be released from jail if a $750 payment is made for an ankle monitor. Authorities emphasize that this is a fraudulent request.
The Sheriff’s Office made it clear that neither their department nor the correctional facility will ever call individuals to request payment over the phone. Residents are urged to remain cautious and avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown callers.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call claiming to be from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office is encouraged to verify the information directly by calling 318-336-5231 or 318-437-0740.
Officials noted that this scam has been reported across Louisiana and other regions for several months. While it is not new, they say raising awareness remains critical to protecting local residents from financial harm.
