Two suspects are in custody following a shots fired incident Thursday afternoon in Adams County, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 3 p.m. on April 9 to a 911 call reporting gunfire near the intersection of MLK Street and Broadmoor Drive, close to Broadmoor Grocery. Initial reports described a Black male suspect wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans who allegedly fired multiple rounds while moving through the area.
Witnesses told authorities the suspect fled on foot before getting into a vehicle and leaving the scene, possibly with another individual. During the incident, one person may have been struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle before deputies arrived.
Law enforcement agencies quickly coordinated their response and located a vehicle matching witness descriptions. Following an investigation, two suspects were taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
Officials say multiple firearms may have been involved, and several weapons have been recovered. Those weapons will undergo further forensic testing as investigators work to determine exactly what happened and the roles of those involved.
The case remains under active investigation, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews. While there is no immediate threat to the public, residents may notice an increased law enforcement presence in the area.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office credited the Natchez Police Department, Woodville Police Department, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol for their assistance, calling the response a strong example of effective interagency cooperation.
