JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A son has been charged in the shooting death of his mother in her Mississippi home, authorities said.
Darrell Harper shot his mother after they argued early Saturday morning inside a Jackson home, police said.
Mary Harper, 59, died shortly after the shooting, police said.
Her son stayed at the home and was arrested when officers arrived, authorities said.
Darrell Harper was charged with murder. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
Mary Harper’s death was the 98th homicide in Jackson in 2020, news outlets reported.
I hope my dad gets out very soon and we really didn’t have a connection but when he is out I hope I can get to know him more and meet my unknown brother and just spend time with them before it’s too late.
