Adams County Awarded funding to complete Belwood Levee
(Natchez, MS – February 1, 2022) Adams County Board of Supervisors and Natchez, Inc. Officials announced today a funding award through the Select Sites Program of the Mississippi Development Authority. This program, under the Mississippi Site Development Grant Program, has been created to increase the number of highly competitive industrial sites in the state and make them ready to meet the needs of prospective companies. A grant of $1.8 Million has been extended to Adams County to aid in the completion of the Belwood Levee.
The awarding of this money will be applied to levee construction and drainage improvements to the Belwood site. The Belwood site was one of 20 sites in the state of Mississippi that were evaluated by Strategic Development Group of Greenville, SC who recommended this site for potential funding. This site is currently under option to Velocys for their Bayou Fuels facility. This project will create 100 new jobs for our region once the site is operational.

We personally thank Mississippi Development Authority, Governor Reeves, and the Mississippi Legislature.
