The former chief of the Sandy Lake Fire Department is under arrest. 66-year old Robert Squyres of Jonesville is accused of stealing $40-thousand of department money. The case dates back to February, when the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office asked the Louisiana State Police to investigate. Squyres faces several counts, including bank fraud, forgery, felony theft, and malfeasance in office. The money is alleged to have been misappropriated between 2017 and 2020.
