Higher property tax bills for Natchez-Adams County landowners are due in two weeks, but some residents may see reductions if they can show their properties were incorrectly valued or levied. During a meeting on Tuesday, the Adams County Board of Supervisors reduced or eliminated taxes for about 10 property owners after discovering errors that primarily affected elderly or disabled residents. According to the county tax assessor, the mistakes resulted from computer issues, administrative oversights, and outdated property information.
The county completed a reassessment of properties in 2025 to account for inflation and other valuation factors. Tax bills reflecting the updated assessments were mailed earlier this month, showing higher amounts owed.
