NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The legacy of country music icon Dolly Parton will continue through her family, as her niece, Danielle Parton, has been named the official brand ambassador for the late singer’s estate.
The announcement comes approximately two months after Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
Danielle Parton announced her new role in an Instagram video shared Thursday, October 22, reflecting on her relationship with her aunt and the responsibility of preserving the country music legend’s memory.
“Like so many of you, losing her has changed something for me,” Danielle said. “It made me think of the stories, values, and lessons that she left behind and the responsibility that our family has to care for them.”
As brand ambassador, Danielle will help celebrate her aunt’s life, career and charitable contributions while sharing personal stories about the woman behind the music.
Danielle, a 20-year military veteran, pilot and entrepreneur involved in the moonshine distillery business, emphasized that she has no plans to replace her famous aunt.
“I’m not crazy enough to try to fill her shoes. God knows I couldn’t walk on them without killing myself,” she joked.
Instead, she hopes to give fans a closer look at the family member she affectionately knew as “Aunt Granny.”
“Yes, Dolly Parton was my aunt, but to me, she will always be Aunt Granny,” Danielle said. “She loved us deeply, believed in big dreams, and she always encouraged me to find my way in this world.”
The two shared a close relationship throughout their lives. In 2025, Dolly attended Danielle’s military retirement ceremony and delivered a speech honoring her niece’s service.
Danielle said she intends to continue supporting the projects, charitable causes and values that were important to her aunt.
Dolly Parton, whose career spanned more than seven decades, became one of country music’s most recognizable figures, known for hits including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Beyond her musical accomplishments, Parton was widely recognized for her philanthropic efforts, particularly Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children and has reached families across the United States, including Mississippi and Louisiana.
Danielle’s new position will allow her to help preserve those contributions while ensuring future generations continue to recognize her aunt’s impact on music, entertainment and charitable giving.
In her Instagram announcement, Danielle reflected on the values she hopes to carry forward.
“Being a Parton means hard work, big dreams and never forgetting where you came from,” she wrote. “I’m proud to be part of that legacy and to carry it on in my own way.”
