With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, Natchez city officials are calling on residents to help support The Stewpot as the local charitable organization faces shortages of essential food supplies.
During Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Dan Gibson and city leaders encouraged residents to donate meat and canned goods to help The Stewpot continue providing meals to individuals and families in need.
The organization, which serves some of the community’s most vulnerable residents, is experiencing a shortage of meat, a key ingredient in many of the meals it prepares.
Gibson urged residents to come together and support the organization’s efforts as the holiday season approaches.
“Let’s all pitch in and make a difference this year,” Gibson said.
To make donating more convenient, the mayor announced that collection boxes will be placed at Natchez City Hall and other locations where residents can drop off food donations.
City officials hope the community-wide effort will help replenish The Stewpot’s food supplies and ensure the organization can continue serving those who depend on its assistance.
Residents are encouraged to consider donating meat, canned goods, or other needed food items as Thanksgiving approaches.
