Host Judy Sheindlin became A New York City Judge in 1982
“Judge Judy” as she is known to legions of dedicated fans, is hanging up her gavel temporarily. She announced the news on the “Ellen Degeneres Show” on Monday (March 2):
“I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS and it’s been successful. Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS, I think felt they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program. Because now they have 25 years of reruns. So, what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years’ worth of reruns.”
Sheindlin isn’t hanging up her gavel and robe for good. She is developing a new show called “Judy Justice” that will debut in a couple years.
