In a decision aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers and improving educational outcomes, the Concordia Parish School Board has announced the implementation of a four-day school week.
The decision, which was informed by surveys and town hall meetings, is not taken lightly, according to the statement released by Concordia Parish School District Superintendent Touya Bachus.
The Superintendent of Concordia Parish Schools, Toyua Bachus, stated that the move to a four-day school week is a strategic response to the national teacher shortage and is intended to make the district more competitive in attracting talented educators.
Additionally, the revised schedule will allow for differentiated instruction, offering students a range of enriching activities and the necessary academic support. The district believes that this approach will not only enhance student learning but will also provide a dedicated day for professional development and collaboration among educators, further enhancing the quality of education provided.
