LSU star linebacker Harold Perkins will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering an ACL injury during the Tigers’ 34-17 victory over UCLA last Saturday. The news, confirmed by ESPN, is a significant blow to the Tigers as Perkins was a key player on their defense.
The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of the game while Perkins was making a tackle. So far this season, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker had recorded 17 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, and had recovered a fumble.
Perkins, a sophomore, made a name for himself as a true freshman in 2022. During his debut season, he showcased his athleticism with seven sacks and 13.5 tackles for a loss. Over his 21 career starts, Perkins amassed 147 tackles, quickly cementing himself as one of the most dominant linebackers in college football.
Born in New Orleans, Perkins and his family were displaced by Hurricane Katrina a year after his birth and eventually settled in Cypress, Texas, where he became a top recruit at Cypress Park High School.
The Tigers will face South Alabama in Baton Rouge this Saturday as they look to build on their most recent win and maintain momentum in their season. With their victory over UCLA, LSU has climbed to No. 14 in the latest AP Poll.
