The Adams County Board of Supervisors is making preparations to move the E911 emergency-dispatching operations to another building after years of being in the basement of the structurally troubled Adams County jail.
The board is expecting to soon finalize details for paying the costs of outfitting the new Natchez-Adams County E911 facility with new equipment and fixtures. The projected costs total more than $500,000, according to plans supervisors discussed Monday. E911’s communications equipment is malfunctioning on a daily basis, said operations director Annette Fells.
While they deferred finalizing the funds for the new facility, the board did approve pay raises for E9ll dispatchers from money squeezed through various cost-saving measures in the department. The operations, jointly funded by Natchez and Adams County boards, are being relocated to a building on Feltus Street off Liberty Road.

Supervisors agreed to extend Adams County’s burn ban for another four weeks. While it has recently rained, it’s not been enough to quell the dry conditions the area has endured in recent months.
People are ordered not to burn outdoor trash, yard rubbish and grassfields or have campfires or bonfires. Outdoor gas grilling or charcoal grilling are allowed during burn bans.
