Natchez, MS – Adams County Emergency Management, has issued a public service announcement to alert Natchez and Adams County residents about the extreme cold weather expected to affect the area tonight through Thursday morning.
A warming shelter will be open at 323 Liberty Road from 5:00 PM Sunday January 19th until 8:00 AM Thursday January 23rd to provide a safe and warm space for those in need. Residents who would like to volunteer at the shelter are encouraged to call 601-445-3525 for more information.
Tips for Staying Safe During the Cold Weather:
1. Protect Your Pipes: Keep your faucets on a low drip and wrap exposed pipes to prevent freezing.
2. Check on Neighbors: Ensure that elderly or vulnerable neighbors are safe and have access to heat.
3. Bring Pets Indoors: Cold temperatures can be life-threatening to animals left outside.
