Calling All Green Thumbs and Civic Champions: Help Plant the Seeds of Pride in Natchez!
As part of the city-wide “Natchez Is Blooming” campaign, Keep Natchez Beautiful is rallying community spirit and calling on volunteers to help plant Caladiums across the city on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The beautification event is in partnership with The City of Natchez and Keep Mississippi Beautiful, aiming to make our town more vibrant, colorful, and inviting.
The main volunteer meet-up begins at 9:00 AM in Memorial Park, located at the corner of Main and Rankin Streets. Come ready to dig in, get your hands dirty, and contribute to a blooming future for Natchez!
Pre-Event Opportunity:
If you’re eager to get involved early, join the de-eyeing of the Caladium bulbs just after the Adams County Master Gardeners meeting at 9:30 AM on May 8th. It’s a great way to connect with fellow garden lovers and prep the plants for their big day!
Volunteer Requirements:
-
Closed-toe shoes are mandatory (tennis shoes, sneakers, or boots — no sandals or flip-flops).
-
Bring your own gardening gloves and spades/shovels to help with planting.
Recommended Items:
-
Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
-
Protection against thorns and sun: long sleeves, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
-
Water bottles and snacks to stay hydrated and energized.
Whether you’re a master gardener or just someone who loves their city, your hands can help Natchez flourish. Let’s come together, plant some beauty, and show our community pride in full bloom!
