An investigation into the theft of hundreds of feet of copper wire from an Adams County location has led to multiple arrests and one suspect being sought by authorities, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies responded May 12, 2025 to 769 U.S. 61 North after learning roughly 400 feet of 400-pair copper wire and multiple fiber lines had been stolen. The wire’s retail value was estimated at $2,800, not including the additional cost to repair and restore service, the sheriff’s office said.
Surveillance footage from a nearby business identified three people of interest. Further investigation tied those individuals to the transport and sale of the stolen copper at regional recycling centers.
On Sept. 15, 2025, Adams County investigators, working with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, contacted multiple suspects at a Jackson residence. Officers discovered evidence consistent with copper-wire theft, including burned casings and freshly stripped wire. According to the sheriff’s office, one suspect, George Hayley of Jackson, admitted involvement and said he, David Glaze, and Regina Blair Glaze had travelled to Natchez to steal the wire before returning to Jackson to strip, burn, and sell it.
As a result of the probe:
-
George Hayley is being held by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office on charges including possession of stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among other related charges. Upon his release from Hinds County custody, he will be transferred to Adams County to face grand larceny charges.
-
Regina Blair Glaze is being held at the Adams County jail on a $25,000 bond in connection with the case.
-
David Glaze fled on foot when deputies arrived, leaving his disabled wife behind, and remains at large. He has been entered into NCIC and is wanted by Adams County on a grand larceny warrant.
Authorities ask anyone with information on David Glaze’s whereabouts to contact the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office in Jackson at (601) 974-2900, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office at (601) 442-2752, Southwest Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 1-888-442-5001, or dial 911.
In a statement, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office thanked partner agencies and praised investigators for sustained work on the case: “This case required extensive collaboration and persistence from our investigators. I want to commend Investigator Otis Dyer and Investigator Clarence Hall Jr. for their outstanding work and thank Sheriff Tyree Jones and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership in helping bring these suspects to justice,” the release said.
