More than half of Concordia Parish School District’s Class of 2026 has qualified for TOPS marking a significant academic milestone for the district.
According to the district, 112 of the 198 graduating seniors have met the requirements to receive a TOPS scholarship, which provides qualifying students with tuition assistance at eligible Louisiana colleges and universities.
District officials said the achievement reflects several years of focused efforts to improve student performance on the ACT and WorkKeys assessments, two key components of TOPS eligibility.
School leaders credited teachers, principals, counselors, and support staff for helping students raise test scores and prepare for postsecondary education.
Officials also noted that the increase in TOPS-qualified graduates represents more than just scholarship opportunities. By reducing the financial burden of college tuition, the program gives more students access to higher education while creating opportunities that can have a lasting impact on local families.
The district has already set its next goal, aiming to increase the number of TOPS-qualified graduates by an additional 20 percent by the end of the 2028 school year
District officials congratulated the Class of 2026 on the accomplishment, calling it a reflection of the hard work and dedication of students, educators, and families throughout Concordia Parish.
