NATCHEZ, Miss. — First responders from across the Miss-Lou will join residents, businesses and community organizations Oct. 6 for a National Night Out celebration aimed at strengthening relationships between public safety agencies and the communities they serve.
The Miss-Lou National Night Out will be held at the Adams County Community Safe Room, 323 Liberty Road in Natchez, with first responders from both sides of the Mississippi River expected to participate.
Organizers hope this year’s gathering will be the largest National Night Out celebration held in the area.
Participating organizations, vendors, nonprofits, churches, civic groups and businesses will begin setting up booths and preparing food from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a motorcade of participating first responders will arrive at the Safe Room to mark the official start of the main celebration.
Following the motorcade, families will be able to enjoy food, games, entertainment, a jumping house, children’s activities, gift-card giveaways, door prizes and other giveaways. Residents will also have an opportunity to meet and interact with first responders from across the region.
“We want this to be the largest National Night Out event ever held in our area,” organizers said. “We have first responders coming together from both sides of the river and throughout our surrounding communities, and now we need the community to come out and be part of it.”
Organizers said the event is intended to bring together agencies and residents across city, county, parish and state lines.
“Bring your children, your family, your neighbors and your friends,” organizers said. “There will be food, games, prizes and giveaways, but the most important part of the evening will be strengthening the relationships between our citizens and the men and women who serve them every day.”
Nonprofits, Greek-letter organizations, churches, civic organizations, businesses and other community groups are also invited to participate. Organizations providing giveaways may receive free booth space.
Businesses and individuals can also support the event by donating gift cards, merchandise, services or other items to be distributed as prizes and giveaways.

Miss-Lou National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Adams County Community Safe Room, 323 Liberty Road in Natchez. Booth setup and cooking will begin at 4 p.m., with the first responder motorcade and main celebration beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m.
